Baltimore Breakout

What it is:
Baltimore Breakout is a competition amongst Maryland bands to be featured on Renegade TV which airs every Saturday night at 12:30 on WBFF Fox 45. Renegade TV is hosted by Johnny O and focuses on subculture entertainment throughout the area or as Johnny would put it, “It’s a show about music, food, beer, bikes and babes.” The show is starting it’s 3rd season and has already featured legendary bike builders, actors, porn stars, artists, and of course musicians. Including Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Dweezil Zappa, Ratt, Lizzie Borden and John Christ of Danzig. http://renegadetv1.com

How it works:
Each Thursday night 3 bands will play at Sinix one of which will move on to the final round which occurs every 4th Thursday. So the 4th Thursday will feature each winner from the previous 3 Thursdays. The band who is victorious will get an interview as well have their music featured on Renegade TV.
After 4 weeks a new round begins. So about once a month a new band will be featured on Renegade TV. Every 3 months the 3 monthly winners will be asked to return to Sinix to perform at a special event to be filmed for Renegade TV.

How do you win:
Each week there will be judges grading each band based on certain criteria including musicianship/skill level, stage presence, crowd (both the size of the crowd and how involved their fans get during the performance), originality of their music etc. The judges will include local celebrities who are music savvy, people who have worked in the music industry etc and of course members of Renegade TV itself. The judges will score you a 1-10 on each category. At the end of the night, the scores are tallied up and the highest score wins. Yup, it’s just that simple.

What is required:
Bands will be asked, but not required to do presale tix. All presales and door money will be split 50/50 between the bands and Renegade TV. The price will be $5. Ex: Your band sells 30 presale tix and has 10 more people come for you at the door. That’s 40 people at $5 which amounts to $200. Your band would keep $100 and Renegade TV would get $100. If your band doesn’t have at least 20 people show up for you the night of your performance you will likely not be able to advance to the next round as fan draw is a big part of the judging criteria.
